For families with a speller, homeschooling can be one of the best decisions you ever make… but it can also be an isolating one.

So many of us have thought, “If only there was something in my community.” Or we’ve even considered starting something ourselves—because we know our kids (and our siblings) deserve a place to learn where communication differences aren’t a barrier to belonging.

But then the reality hits: starting a program is a daunting task. The location. Enrollment. Curriculum. Setup. Schedules. Ratios. Training other adults. Policies. The actual day-to-day flow. It’s a lot to carry—especially when you’re already carrying so much.

But what if there was a blueprint created for you?

What if someone with extensive experience running co-ops—someone who is also a speller mom, and who creates homeschool curriculum for spellers—could come alongside you, guide your way, and provide the resources and expertise needed to get a homeschool community up and running?

Well, I’ve got great news.

I am creating just that.

Dare to Homeschool Communities Director Certification is a training created to connect like-minded parents and practitioners who want to build homeschooling communities for spellers and their siblings. Those who take this training will become Certified Dare to Homeschool Directors, can host information about their community on our website as a Verified Dare to Homeschool Community, and will have the support of the Dare to Homeschool Your Speller expertise and curriculum behind them.

By creating Dare to Homeschool Communities, we’re opening the doors for inclusive, speller-accessible academics that include the whole family—and provide a social “home base” to homeschool with. Our goal is to create a network of communities who get it and do this life together. And the first step is training Directors to lead the way.

• Cost: $900 -or 2 Payments of $500

• Includes: training, resources, accountability, and support—so you’re not building alone

What this training covers

This certification is designed to walk you through nearly all the real-world pieces of starting and running a co-op/community—specifically for spellers and their siblings.

You’ll learn:

• How to start a community (location, setup, flow, expectations)

• How to set up enrollment and recruitment

• How to set up a pricing structure that makes sense for your group

• How to form age groups and plan ratios (ages 6–14, flexible)

• Teacher training basics (how to train adults to lead well in this setting)

• How to teach in a group setting using our curriculum and resources

You’ll receive guidance for teaching:

• Language Arts
• History
• Science
• Math*
• Intentional Movement
• Literature
• and more!

*math resources and suggestions provided, but I will not be publishing new units of math from Dare to Homeschool Your Speller for 2026/2027 school year

Important note: This training does not include business-end legal setup, because that is very user-specific and depends on state laws and local requirements.

Curriculum alignment (how it works)

To keep Dare to Homeschool Communities streamlined and consistent:

We choose the curriculum year. You choose the model.

Each community follows the year’s curriculum track, and you choose whether you run:

• a 1-day meetup model, or
• a 2-day meetup model

Year 1 includes: Ancient World + Earth/Space Science + Language Arts + Literature
Age range: 5–14 (flexible)
Groups/levels:

• Level A: 5–9
• Level B: 10-14

• Quizzes after each module (required; reviewed with brief feedback)
• 2 required live cohort meetings (recorded)
• 3× 30-minute 1:1 coaching calls within your first year

Curriculum purchase requirement (important)

To protect consistency across communities and keep everything aligned:

Trainees agree that each family enrolled in their community will purchase curriculum directly from Dare to Homeschool Your Speller.

Families enrolled in a Dare to Homeschool Community will receive a 10% group-rate discount. Directors will receive a 20% off rate for purchasing teacher materials.

Verified listing + annual renewal

Directors who complete certification will be eligible to list their community on our website as a Verified Dare to Homeschool Community.

Year 1 listing is included with certification.

To remain active and listed after Year 1:

• $249/year for required refresher training on upcoming units and updated teaching methods, in order to remain an active Verified Community.
